Overview of the role:
We are seeking a Staff Engineer to join our team. You will be working to lead the development of a platform to help OEMs realize the benefits of an SDV, a cutting-edge microkernel operating system tailored for automotive applications. This role requires a deep understanding of safety, E/E architecture, real-time operating systems, and the internal workings of operating systems, microkernel architecture, and system-level development, with a focus on supporting the high reliability and real-time performance needs of modern vehicles.
What you will be expected to perform:
- Design and implement a robust microkernel operating system for advanced automotive functions, focusing on inter-process communication (IPC), scheduling, memory management, and security.
- Work closely alongside the Product team to devise the technical solution required to realize the product vision.
- Work closely with your peers to design the technical architecture and its break down into an Execution Plan
- Work closely with your peers to implement and execute the Execution Plan as per Automotive Industry standards
- Collaborate with teams across system and application frameworks to ensure seamless integration and high performance across all layers of the technology stack.
- Lead architectural discussions, making strategic decisions that align with automotive trends such as Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of engineers, promoting an environment of innovation and excellence.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in operating system development, with extensive expertise in microkernel architectures.
- Proficient in C and C++, with a strong understanding of low-level hardware interactions and high-level system frameworks.
- Experience with automotive ECUs and familiarity with automotive standards, such as ISO 26262.
- Comfortable working in a flat hierarchy where each individual is expected to be an Individual Contributor
- Experience with OS virtualization and hypervisor technologies in embedded or automotive systems.
- Familiarity with QNX, Integrity, or similar automotive-focused operating systems.
- Knowledge of current trends in automotive technology, including autonomous driving and vehicle electrification.
You should be:
- Cross-industry experience, particularly in consumer electronics, mobile operating systems, or cloud services.
- Understanding of service-oriented architectures (SOA) and their applications in non-automotive contexts.
- Ability to adapt and integrate cross-industry technology solutions into the automotive domain.
